Since we Say The Children are our Future We Should be telling them How to Treat the Environment in a Sustainable Way

The children are our future that is what we say

But what will our future look like if we teach them how to treat the environment in a bad way

If they learn all the old bad habits we used to destroy nature in the past

How will they survive on the planet that is warming and how long will the earth’s resources last

Climate change is telling us that change is needed right now

And even the children will need to know about the change that is needed somehow

They will need to face a future that is different from what we knew

And it is not too early for them to start planning what to do

The collapse of food production could become a reality

And we need to stop and look at a better possibility

The zero waste plan is one that can help us to solve the problems

There are other solutions too, but will we pay attention to them?

Our children should not be facing a future that will cause them to be stressed out

When they are seeing violent hurricanes, wild fires and food shortages caused by drought

I believe there is no parent who would not want do something to change this grim outlook

But we are seeing the effects of climate change already and facts are written in many books

But if we could start telling the children about the things they can do to protect the environment

We would be helping them to plan for a future that is filled with peace and contentment

And we would be working towards having a bright future

And the life we are living now would be so much better

  1. I truly agree with you Denise. If we don’t set an example, they will only fall into the same type of recklessness and destructive behavior we adults are committing, which makes them follow suit and disrespect Mother Earth and our environment. In the long run if we take care of our planet, it will take care of us and sustain our quality of life. We all know the downside when we don’t. Thanks for sharing! πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you Kym,

I hope we will wake up soon, as children live what they learn and we can’t afford for things to get any worse.
I appreciate your support and your valuable comment

      1. Oh my pleasure Denise. πŸ™‚ I hope we wake up soon as well. The warning signs have been going off for far too long now. People don’t pay attention until things become so extreme as it reaches the point of no return.

Continue to share your insight. Somebody is reading, listening, and responding to it! πŸ˜‰

  2. Exactly, Denise: we need to educate them not only for the sake of teaching them how to treat the environment, as you pointed out, but also as Kym points out, we need to set an example of empathy and using those key Critical Thinking skills that prevent us, later on, from committing that reckless and destructive behavior we see now so often.

In the long run, it is how we teach ourselves, our kids, our fellow human beings, and how we continue to learn to treat each other and the earth, that will sustain our quality of life.

Thank you, Denise, for your continual advocacy on behalf of the planet, and thus on behalf of us all.

    Stay safe,
    -Shira

      1. Thank you, too, Denise, and thank you for the work you are doing here. We are all working toward the same goal, right?

  3. This is all so true. We are becoming very late in the US in our efforts. We
Have so Much catching up to do and survival will be likely determined by the little ones now that didn’t make the mess. Great stuff. Thank you ❀️😘

    1. Thanks Joni, your comment is so valuable….. I hope we can tell the children about all the things that will help them to have a great life in time, because money cannot be eaten

      1. So true I loved your post. We are running out of times and so much life will end if we don’t change. Teachers have a hard job as do parents but teaching them about our precious environment can only bring healing. Thank you again. Enjoy your weekend. Love ❀️ Joni
