There are some folks who say the earth was destroyed before
And somehow it was eventually restored
So we can never destroy it completely
And it makes no sense for us to try to create a new reality

This way of thinking has caused a lot of people to decide that they won’t change what they do
They won’t even help the poor to make it through
By supporting the businesses that have gone green
So that our environment can be healthy and clean
These people don’t listen when the environmentalists speak
A better life is not what they seek
Spreading the word about the need for environmental care is not what they like
They will put people behind bars when they participate in a climate strike
The fight for a clean environment and a bright future is real
Because there are many who don’t want anyone to have a good deal
We are seeing the impact of climate change in many places recently
It is clear that there are people who want to make a difference instead of waiting patiently
But why wait for the earth to be destroyed when there is so much we can do
When we decide to turn old things into something new
It is best for us to spread the word about the need for environmental care in a new way
By telling the children how they can prepare for a bright future today
